“The 2023 El Cerrico has a deep yellow color and an open, clean and expressive nose. It’s less reductive than previous vintages, as they have extended the élevage in oak to two years, topping up every week and still keeping the reductive aging. It has a leesy and smoky nose, and the longer time in oak polishes the edges and increases the salinity in the wine from concentration. It has notes of yellow flowers and is fresh and juicy, sleek and polished, with a medium-bodied palate, a contained 12% alcohol and a very chalky, dry and salty finish. It’s more in the style of the 2021 than the 2022 but more polished and elegant” 96+p. Robert Parker.com

El Cerrico er husets ultra sjældne tophvidvin. Selvom vinen er lavet på den ofte udskældte Airén, så Cerdán brødrene aldrig været for fine til at kalde den Jumillas Coche-Dury :). Intensiteten, dybden og den nærmest laser præcise mineralitet og høje syre, giver ikke desto mindre end vin som mange topproducenter af hvid bourgogne med stolthed ville etikettere som Grand Cru.

Vinstokkene er over 100 år gamle, og giver en uhørt høj koncentration, og lagringen på små fade er elegant balanceret og integreret i den dybe, fyldige og intense hvidvin. Ganske få flasker til landet.

“The white 2022 El Cerrico feels less reductive than in previous years, perhaps because they extended the élevage to 20 months. They like the reductive profile of the 2021, but they thought it was a little too much; and it took a long time for the wine to open up in the glass. They also harvested earlier. This is serious, mineral and precise, with vibrant flavors, a moderate 12% alcohol and very good freshness. A signature of their whites seems to be the salty, lip-smacking acidity and a stony, mineral sensation. It combines the oxidative and reductive character, making it complex and sapid, clean and terribly salty with the purity of a Puligny Montrachet.” 96p. Robert Parker.com
